A nine-screen movie theater with plush seating for 1,000 people is scheduled to open in 2017 at Pembroke Lakes Mall in Pembroke Pines.
AMC Theatres said Thursday it will begin construction for the 40,000-square-foot theater next year and have it ready in time for movies showing in early 2017.
Several new theaters have opened across South Florida recently, including Silverspot Cinema at Promenade at Coconut Creek, AMC Coral Ridge 10 Theatre at Coral Ridge mall and Regal Broward Stadium 12 & RPX at Westfield Broward mall.
AMC has six theaters in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area and about 350 nationwide.
Pembroke Lakes Mall is at 11401 Pines Blvd.
