An 81-year-old woman died when the car she was in crashed into a residential building at the Kings Point condominium community on Friday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday identified the woman as Joyce Zanleone.
Joseph Zanleone, 76, was the driver of the 2020 Hyundai involved in the single-car accident that took place at 529 Brittany Lane, west of Delray Beach, at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to the sheriff’s office crash report.
As the car headed west on Monaco Boulevard from Jog Road, Joseph Zanleone lost control of the car – which accelerated rapidly, ran a stop sign, drove through a hedge line, road sign and cement planter and hit a building.
Joyce Zanleone died at the scene. Joseph Zanleone was critically injured and taken to Delray Medical Center, the sheriff’s office said.
The report didn’t indicate the relationship between Joseph and Joyce Zanleone. Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Office records showed they were a husband and wife who bought a condominium at Kings Point in 2022.
