Gov. Ron DeSantis’s order closing nonessential businesses throughout Florida includes dozens of exceptions. Everything from marinas to gun shops to, well, newspapers, of course.
Adult entertainment stores, however, are not on the list of exceptions.
And yet, at MegaSex Adult Emporium in North Lauderdale, business rolls on.
The store is the self-proclaimed largest adult store in Fort Lauderdale and carries lingerie, videos and toys, among other things.
“People are stuck home and need something to do,” said Jackie Titolo, who has owned the sex superstore for 21 years.
A swing by similar stores found the lights out.
Hustler Hollywood in Fort Lauderdale has temporarily closed.
“As we continue to monitor the situation concerning the COVID-19 virus, Hustler Hollywood has decided at this time to temporarily close each of our retail stores in hopes of helping mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus,” reads a statement from unapologetic pornographer Larry Flynt.
In Delray Beach, a sad, handwritten sign posted to the glass doors at Sexxy Toyz read, “In order to stop the spread of the coronavirus, we are closed until further notice. Please do your part to stop the spread.”
