Soap notes
— The ice-skating world’s soap opera – what did Tonya Harding know and when did she know it – affected As the World Turns recently. For months, ATWT has been leading up to a night of lovemaking for Holden (Jon Hensley) and Lily (Martha Byrne). The romantic event was ready to air when CBS cut in for live coverage of Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly’s court appearance, in which he pleaded guilty for conspiring to injure Olympic ice skater Nancy Kerrigan.
The coverage prevented the East Coast from seeing the first half hour of ATWT and West Coast viewers from seeing the second half hour. With such a major-event soap being bumped off the air, CBS decided to air the entire episode of As the World Turns the following day. So no matter where you lived, if you watched ATWT, you had a deja vu experience. It is the first time ATWT has ever re-broadcast an episode in its over 30 years of existence.
— Kimberlin Brown (Sheila on Bold and Beautiful) gave birth to Alexes Marie on Jan. 31. Her husband is businessman Gary Pelzer. With Brown on maternity leave, her always-plotting character, Sheila, will be out of town taking care of her ailing mother, Molly.
