Horror Nights house melds ‘Insidious,’ ‘Sinister,’ ‘Purge’ films

It’s a mash-up of horror. The latest announced haunted house for the 2017 edition of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights will blend characters and scenes from three separate movie franchises, “Sinister,” “Insidious” and “The Purge.” The maze will be called Horrors of Blumhouse.

Blumhouse Productions developed the films used in the new house.

“We’re ripping the most terrifying scenes out the creepiest movies from the Blumhouse vault and dropping you into the middle of the action,” Charles Gray, show director, wrote in a post on the official Universal Orlando parks blog.

The house will feature elements from the upcoming “Insidious: Chapter 4,” Gray said. The film is set to appear in theaters in January.

A Blumhouse house at the California version of Halloween Horror Nights will feature “The Purge,” “Sinister” and “Happy Death Day,” which debuts Oct. 13.

The Horrors of Blumhouse maze is the fifth one announced for the Orlando event. Others will be themed to “The Shining,” “American Horror Story,” “Saw,” “Ash vs. Evil Dead” and four others yet to be announced.

HHN27, an after-hours and separate ticket event held at Universal Studios theme park, kicks off Sept. 15 and runs for 34 select nights through Nov. 4. Tickets are now on sale.
