Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel may not have kicked the field goal for the NFL’s all-time single-game scoring record, but the historic 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday saw at least 13 team or individual franchise records broken.
Here are the team single-game records broken:
— Most points: 70;
— Most touchdowns: 10;
— Most total yards: 726;
— Most rushing yards: 350;
— Most extra-point kicks made: 10;

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set a Dolphins record for passing yards through three games (1,024), and wide receiver Tyreek Hill has the most receiving yards a Dolphins player has gained through three games (412).
The Dolphins’ 70 points were most in an NFL game since 1966. It was second-most in regular-season play (Washington with 72 in 1966), while Chicago also had 73 points in the 1940 NFL Championship.
Miami’s 726 total yards were second-most in league history (behind 735 for 1951 Los Angeles Rams).
The Dolphins became the first team in NFL history with five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in a game. They also are the first with 350 yards passing and 350 rushing.
The Mostert-Achane running back duo became only the second pair of teammates to score four touchdowns each in the same game, joining the 2004 Chiefs’ Priest Holmes and Derrick Blaylock in a 56-10 win over the Falcons.
Achane’s 203 rushing yards broke an NFL record for a player in his first or second game of his career in the Super Bowl era (since 1970).
By defeating Broncos coach Sean Payton, Tagovailoa extended his winning streak over Super-Bowl winning coaches to 10, an NFL record. After losing to Kansas City’s Andy Reid in December of 2020, he has since reeled off five wins against Bill Belichick, a second against Payton, and one against John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin and Jon Gruden.
Tagovailoa’s 155.8 passer rating Sunday was a personal career best. He started the win over the Broncos with 17 consecutive completions, one off Ryan Tannehill’s record of 18 to start a game, set Oct. 25, 2015 versus Houston.
Miami’s 130 points and 1,651 yards are both team bests through three games.
In an advanced statistic that exhibits how much speed is on this team, the Dolphins have the six fastest instances of in-game ball carrying this season: Hill 22.07 mph Sunday, Achane 21.93 mph Sunday, Hill 21.66 mph Week 1, Mostert 21.62 mph Week 2, Hill 21.52 mph Week 1 and Achane 21.5 mph Sunday.
Injury updates
Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle remains in concussion protocol as of Monday, according to McDaniel.
“We’ll progress through that, and we’re optimistic in how he’s feeling,” McDaniel said. “Just worried about him getting right, and that should take care of itself here soon.”
Outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips is “day-to-day,” according to McDaniel, who said the same about center Connor Williams after both left Sunday’s win over the Broncos with injuries. Phillips had an oblique injury and Williams exited with a groin ailment.
“He’s doing better than (Sunday), so hopefully on Wednesday, he’ll be doing even better,” McDaniel said of Phillips, “and we’ll see how that progresses.”
McDaniel said cornerback Eli Apple is not in concussion protocol after he was evaluated for concussion in Sunday’s game.
Wide receiver River Cracraft, who was ruled out during the game for a shoulder injury, seems like an injury that will keep him out a substantial amount of time.
“I don’t know how long it will be,” McDaniel said. “I think, at this point, my immediate reaction, I’d be surprised if — it’s definitely not a day-to-day thing — but we’ll continue getting feedback from him. And as we get even more test results back, we’ll figure out a timeline for that.
“He is playing at a very high level, and there is no doubt that we’ll see him again in the near future. How near is that? I don’t know yet. But, when he does, he’ll be ready to go and making plays, as he has been this entire season.
McDaniel said tight end Durham Smythe is fine after he was in the blue medical tent momentarily Sunday.
