“Here and Now” was the title of the sixth annual Bipolar Medical Briefing Luncheon, which took place at the The Breakers in Palm Beach on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation event featured a panel discussion to raise awareness of the mental illness.
During the event, Bruce Gendelman received the 2019 Shining Star Award from Sang Foundation co-founder Joyce Sang for his commitment and support for the organization.
Co-founder Dusty Sang moderated the panel, which included Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw, Dr. Karen Swartz from Johns Hopkins, and Frances Fisher, who spoke about her brother’s bipolar disorder.
The event furthered the Ryan Licht Sang Foundation’s mission to use education to remove the stigma associated with bipolar disorder. The organization also aims to fund research to develop a test to make early detection and prevention of the disease possible.
