Spouse, kids driving you crazy? Try Ray LaMontagne

Great scene on Tuesday night’s always satisfying “Parenthood” (NBC, 10 p.m.), when Peter Krause’s character finds post-work refuge from the hullabaloo in the house by reclining the seat in his car all the way back and decompressing in the darkness to the songs of Ray LaMontagne. Later, when someone questions the soundtrack of their car-pool commute, Krause’s character cuts them off quickly: LaMontagne is “a genius,” he snips. “That’s what we’re listening to.”

Indeed, the swirls of LaMontagne’s voice punctuating the pathos on “Parenthood” left me wanting more of the man that Spin.com said “illustrated a near flawless transition from a front porch in Maine to the front of the most prestigious stage in the world (Radio City Music Hall).”

LaMontagne and his band, the Pariah Dogs, open for ex-Band legend Levon Helm on Nov. 4 at Pompano Beach Amphitheater. Tickets, which went on sale Saturday, are $35, $66 plus fees at Ticketmaster.

Until then we’ll have to make due with his new album, “God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise,” which came out last month, and this video of a recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
