The Sunrise City Commission recently allocated $3 million to provide utility bill relief for residents financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Intended to provide assistance to Sunrise water and wastewater customers in single-family homes, the program can provide up to $500 in bill credits on their utility account. Program credits are expected to appear on approved customer accounts within two billing cycles.
The program includes customers in the cities of Sunrise and Weston, and towns of Davie and Southwest Ranches.
The application window is open to residents for 30 days, lasting through Wednesday, Sept. 16. Assistance will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants.
Applicants must provide the following documents:
Valid ID or driver’s license
Copy of one non-Sunrise utility bill with name and service address
Proof of residence
Proof of loss of income
The assistance program will close once all funds have been distributed. Application decisions are expected to be made within four weeks following the submission of all the documents.
Limited to one per household, applications can be found on the City of Sunrise website.
